January 1995 to January 2020: A History of Growth

When the Coushatta Tribe of Louisiana opened its casino doors for the first time in January 1995, it began a remarkable success story that continues today. Upon its opening, the casino immediately became the largest entertainment and resort complex in the state of Louisiana, with over 70,000 square feet of gaming area, three separate food venues, a nightclub, a childcare facility, and a teen arcade. A staff of 1,600 significantly reduced high unemployment rates in Allen and surrounding parishes.

Popularity Demands Expansion of Casino and Amenities
In the years following its opening, the dedicated crowds continued, proving the casino’s popularity and skyrocketing success. By 1999, the resort facility added multiple expansions: Red Shoes RV Park, the flagship Coushatta Grand Hotel adjoining the casino, an additional 27,000 square feet of gaming area, plus two new restaurants. In 2002, the Coushatta Tribe of Louisiana implemented yet another $100 million expansion to add even more amenities for casino guests. This development included another hotel, Feather Fuel 24-bay fuel station with a convenience store, an 18-hole championship golf course, and The Pavilion at Coushatta, an enclosed climate-controlled arena for hosting national headliner concerts, equine events as well as the annual Coushatta Powwow. Koasati Pines at Coushatta, the 18-hole championship golf course that debuted in 2002, has been named to the 2020 GolfAdvisor® Top 50 Golfer’s Choice List and recognized as the #1 Golf Course in Louisiana on GolfAdvisor® for the year 2020.

Assuming Command
In January 2002, the Coushatta Tribe assumed management of casino operations. By January 2005, they reinforced ownership by implementing a name change for the property, Coushatta Casino Resort.

Additional Expansions
Further expansions in 2012 included the non-smoking Seven Clans Hotel, a Bingo Hall, and a sports bar with an off-track betting center, plus a massive swimming pool complex featuring a lazy river, two giant intertwining slides, a splash pad area for children, and a swim-up bar for adults. The following year in 2013, an off-leash dog park opened to provide accommodations for a guest’s “entire” family. The casino has added several restaurants presenting a diverse assortment of dining options for guests throughout the years.

Current Status
At present, Coushatta Casino Resort boasts ten restaurants, two hotels, an RV resort with chalets and a dog park, over 2,000 slots, and more than 65 table games including live poker, live bingo, and an off-track betting center, the most popular swimming pool complex in the region, The Pavilion climate-controlled arena, Koasati Pines award-winning championship golf course, and Feather Fuel station and convenience store.
