Coushatta Tribe of Louisiana and Coushatta Casino Resort Donate $10,460 to Give A Wish Foundation

Making Wishes Come True for Sick Children in Southwest Louisiana & Southeast Texas

August 29, 2019

KINDER, LA––During July 2019, Coushatta Casino Resort associates participated in a fundraiser to benefit a local non-profit charitable organization, Give A Wish Foundation, whose mission is to grant wishes to children with life-threatening, terminal or extenuating conditions in Southwest Louisiana and Southeast Texas. Operated solely by volunteers trained in wish granting, the foundation is funded by private donations and fundraising events.

Casino associates who wished to donate had the option to purchase specially designed t-shirts, and passes to wear jeans. Participating associates were allowed to wear their t-shirts with jeans as part of their uniform on designated days during the month. Through generosity and community spirit, casino associates raised a total of $10,460.

Give A Wish Foundation’s founder Paula Livingston and Foundation volunteers Lana Manuel and T.A. Wier accepted the donation from Coushatta Tribal Chairman David Sickey, Tribal Vice-Chairman Kevin Sickey, Tribal Councilmembers Loretta Williams, Crystal Williams and Jonathan Cernek. They were joined by Coushatta Casino Resort’s Chief Financial Officer Greg Hinton, Tribal Development/Associate Engagement Manager Kristen Johnson, and Entertainment Coordinator and Give A Wish Foundation Boardmember Paula All.

“One of our greatest purposes is realized within the joy of giving,” said David Sickey, Tribal Chairman of the Coushatta Tribe of Louisiana. “The Coushatta Casino Resort associates continue to be an endless source of inspiration and generosity, especially but not limited to these wonderful fundraisers which provide the best possible life for children. It’s not only an honor for us all to witness and be a part of the extraordinary philanthropic spirit of our associates, but to also see their immeasurable capacity to raise every standard giving.”

Ms. Livingston stated, “The Coushatta Tribe has been such an asset to us for assistance with our mission to grant wishes, providing limousine transportation for the children and their families and so much more. We couldn’t do as much as we do without their very active participation, and we are so grateful for that.”

Coushatta Casino Resort is located in Kinder, Louisiana on Highway 165 (I-10, exit 44), featuring three hotels and thousands of slots and table games including live poker, live bingo, off-track betting and a sportsbook. Call (800) 584-7263 or visit www.ccrla.com for more information.
