Annual Chairman’s Cup Golf Tournament Raises Over $150,000 for Charity

Kinder, LA—Over 150 golfers participated in Coushatta’s Chairman’s Cup held on Thursday, May 19, 2016. The Chairman’s Cup golf tournament is an annual charity fundraiser hosted by the Coushatta Tribe of Louisiana and held at Koasati Pines at Coushatta, the resort’s award winning championship golf course. Prior to the day of golf, tournament participants were invited to participate in a Blackjack Tournament on Wednesday evening. The 2-day fundraiser generated $153,000 for the Foundation.

Coushatta Tribal Chairman Lovelin Poncho commented, “This event was a huge success, not only for the golf tournament, but for the Chairman’s Cup Foundation. This event would not be possible if it weren’t for the event organizers, volunteers, and all of our sponsors. I want to say ‘thank you’ to all involved in making this event great.”

The Title Sponsor for the Chairman’s Cup was Coca-Cola; Platinum Sponsors were ImagineThis and Zotto Mattress. The Golden Sponsor for the event was KCM.

The 4-man scramble tournament ended with four teams tied for the lead, making the scorecard playoff that much more exciting. The team sponsored by Capital One Bank won first place. Rounding out the top winners were teams from Billy Navarre Chevrolet, Coushatta Tribal Council, AGS, and Trident.

The Chairman’s Cup Foundation is an independent, 501c3 organization. The golf tournament is an annual fundraiser hosted by the Coushatta Tribe of Louisiana and held at Koasati Pines at Coushatta. Local and area businesses participate as sponsors; 100% of funds collected for the Foundations are earmarked for donations to local and regional charities. Written requests for funding by Louisiana-based charitable and non-profit groups, organizations, or individuals in need are submitted to the Foundation Board for review.
