Coushatta Casino Resort Associates & Coushatta Tribe of Louisiana Donate $10,000 to Make Christmas Brighter for Local Foster & Underprivileged Children

Tribal Chairman Lovelin Poncho Presented with National Achievement Award by Terry Courville, President of Louisiana State Council, Vietnam Veterans of America

Kinder, LA—As a community service, associates of Coushatta Casino Resort and Koasati Pines Golf Course, and members of the Coushatta Tribe of Louisiana, made donations of cash and new toys to Vietnam Veterans of America Local Chapter 215 to benefit foster and underprivileged children of Allen and Jeff Davis parishes. Contributions resulted from three employee fundraisers: a slot tournament, a Blackjack tournament, and a golf tournament, plus a donation from the Tribe. Combined donations totaled $10,000.

Lovelin Poncho, Chairman of the Coushatta Tribe of Louisiana, presented a check for $10,000 to Terry Courville, President of Louisiana State Council of Vietnam Veterans of America and Local Chapter 215. Courville then presented Chairman Poncho with an Achievement Medal from Vietnam Veterans of America National President John Rowan, honoring the Tribe’s support and service to the community.

“I am honored to receive this award. We are glad to do this for the community,” stated Chairman Poncho. “This is a good cause and we are proud to support our associates in their generosity. We’ve been doing it for a while now, it’s the right thing to do.”

“I am leaving from here and going right over to Foster Kids of America! This is going to make a lot of kids very happy this Christmas. I want to thank the Coushatta Tribe and Coushatta Casino Resort, they do this for us every year and we greatly appreciate it,” stated Courville.

Proceeds from these three fundraisers were donated to Vietnam Veterans of America Local Chapter 215 to benefit the Chapter’s efforts toward providing quality Christmas gifts for foster and underprivileged children in Allen and Jeff Davis parishes. One hundred percent of this donation will be used in Allen and Jeff Davis parishes to assist these children.
