Coushatta Casino Resort Holds First Annual Pumpkin Painting Contest for Associates

Winners Determined by Casino Guests’ Votes

November 7, 2013

Kinder, LA––Coushatta Casino Resort held its first annual pumpkin painting contest for associates. Pumpkins were provided to casino departments for painting and decoration in any fashion, without the use of carvings or piercings, to compete in these categories: Grand Prize, Most Creative, Most Funny, and Most Scary. Casino guests viewed the array of 44 painted pumpkin displays and voted for their favorites from October 23 through November 5.

Results:
Grand Prize: Slots associates Germaine Kebodeaux, Lindy Green, Katina Holmes, and Jennifer Maglalang painted, decorated, and dressed a pumpkin to portray Uncle Si from the A&E hit series “Duck Dynasty.”
Most Creative: The team from Uniforms transformed a pumpkin into Cinderella’s carriage, completing the fantasy landscape with additional figurines of the mice coachmen and Cinderella herself. The visually stunning tableau was brought to life by Uniforms associates Tara Freeman, Helen LaFosse, and Sherrill Manuel.
Most Funny: Bakery associates Johnie Smith, Karen Cormier, Kellie Trimble, Kari Chaisson, and Amanda Smith used various forms of sugar to create a whimsical under-the-sea scene featuring Nemo, Disney’s clown fish cartoon hero.
Most Scary: Slots associates Marsha Snipe, Roxanna Strealy, Julie Cormier, and Marian Treme converted pumpkins into the popular M&M characters and placed them in a “Lost in the Woods on Halloween Night” theme.

Prizes:
Grand Prize was a Halloween-themed trophy and each Grand Prize team member received a $25 gift certificate to Feather Fuel, the casino’s gasoline station/convenience store. Most Creative, Most Funny, and Most Scary teams were awarded plaques, plus each of those team members received a $15 gift certificate to PJ’s Coffee of New Orleans (located in the lobby of Seven Clans Hotel). ALL teams won “braggin’ rights” … until next year’s contest!
