KEVIN COSTNER has won two Academy Awards, three Golden Globe Awards, and one Emmy Award. His notable roles include Eliot Ness in The Untouchables, Ray Kinsella in Field of Dreams, Robin Hood in Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, and Frank Farmer in The Bodyguard. Costner is also a singer, musician, producer, director, and businessman.
The genesis of MODERN WEST began when Costner’s wife, Christine, encouraged him to reconnect with his love of music; however, the band’s history goes back over 20 years when Costner met John Coinman in Los Angeles during an acting workshop. The two began to play and write music with another friend, Blair Forward. That collaboration became the band Roving Boy––a rock band with an edgy Western style. As Costner’s star began to rise, the band continued behind-the-scenes playing, writing, and recording when they could get together. Coinman and Forward later met guitarist/producer Teddy Morgan and drummer Larry Cobb. In 2005, the five formed Modern West. Their music flows from the band’s original material, written to cover songs written by some of music’s giants.
