11th Annual Tournament adds “Casino Night”; will raise funds for local organizations
May 11, 2012
Elton, LA - The Coushatta Tribe of Louisiana will hold its 11th Annual Chairman’s Cup Foundation Golf Tournament on Thursday, May 17, to raise money for charitable organizations in Southwest Louisiana. This year’s tournament will feature 152 golfers from all around the country playing in a four-man
This Chairman’s Cup Foundation is an independent, 501c3 organization and the tournament is an annual fundraiser hosted by the Coushatta Tribe of Louisiana and held at Koasati Pines at Coushatta, Louisiana’s longest championship golf course. Local and area businesses participate as sponsors and 100 percent of funds collected for the Foundation are earmarked for donations to local and regional charities. Food and drinks will be offered on the course during play, provided by the restaurants of the Coushatta Casino Resort.
A new addition to this year’s event is “Casino Night,” a special pre-tournament, fundraiser for the golfers and their families, featuring cocktails, hors d’ oeuvres, and poker and blackjack tournaments for special prizes. Casino Night will take place on Wednesday night prior to the tournament. It will begin with a reception at 7 p.m. and will be held at the Veranda at the Koasati Pines at Coushatta.
In previous years, funds raised through the tournament have benefited organizations such as the American Red Cross Acadiana Area Chapter, the Jeff Davis Council on Aging, Lafayette Community Health Care Clinic Foundation, United Way of Southwest Louisiana, and the Calcasieu Area Council Boy Scouts of America. Written requests for funding by Louisiana-based charitable and non-profit groups, organizations, or individuals in need are submitted to the Foundation Board for review. This year’s beneficiaries will be selected by the Foundation Board after the tournament.
This year’s “Shirt Sponsor” for the tournament is DreamCatcher Hotels of Memphis, Tennessee.
“The Chairman’s Cup Golf Tournament is one of our most exciting and important events each year. Not only has it become one of the premiere golf events in Louisiana, but the money raised through the event has made a measurable impact throughout our region,” said Coushatta Tribe Chairman Kevin Sickey. “With a full slate of teams and the addition of Casino Night, we think this year could be the best yet.”
